ABUSED AND LEFT IN A DITCH - FOX TROT'S STORY August 14, 2017 08:10

On 8/11/17 as we were leaving our rental we noticed a puppy laying in a ditch, shaking and disoriented.  He was very malnourished, missing half his hair, and wounds all over.  We had to help this poor pup before he died.

We picked up the pup and headed to the local vet.  He was so weak he just laid in Kayla's arms as we drove.

We arrived at the vet and was told they needed to run blood tests and check his kidneys as he might be too far gone and need to be put to sleep.  They reminded us it was not our dog or responsibility as the bill would land on us to pay.  Kayla nor I needed to even think about it, help this poor pup!  So they took blood samples and the waiting game began...

The blood tests came back and they were both good and bad.  The good, his kidneys were ok and he was in good hands.  The bad, his red blood cells were 5x lower than the lowest they should be, his iron deficiency was through the roof, and his skin was inflamed and infected. This poor pup is only 6 months old.

So we had the option to return him to the ditch where we found him or get him the help he so desperately needed. The vet informed us without help he had a few days, possibly a few weeks to live.

Thats where you come in.... As most of you know we are vacationing for the month in Costa Rica.  We couldn't let the pup die so we dipped into our vacation fund to help the little guy out.  We are already a few hundred into vet bills and not sure where they will end up.  We also now need to find an amazing home so he gets the unconditional love he deserves.

UPDATE 1

Thank you so much to everyone who donated and shared! We almost hit our goal in the first day, that is so heart warming to know there are so many amazing people willing to help. So thank you again for helping this amazing little boy.

"Fox" (our name for him as he does the best fox trot) is home with us and what a sweet little boy he is! He doesn't have a ton of energy and sleeps a lot. But when he gets held or receives his belly rubs he lights up and is a licking loving machine! He also does a sad but super sweet whimper howl while we make his food (I'll post a video soon). The great news is he has a good appetite, drinking water, and great bathroom habits.

He will be staying with us for a while until we can find him an amazing home. So for now, Fox will be visiting many places in Costa Rica just living the Pura Vida life.
